Team Bicycle Network: ready to ride

Bicycle Network is excited to announce the launch of its new road team, Team Bicycle Network.

The Team consists of five well-known and respected members of the road cycling community: Ben Douglas, Cameron Clamp, Keith Leonard, Peter Tzimas and Sam de Bruin.

The Team will take part in a range of mass participation events, criteriums and road races throughout the year, including the SCODY 3 Peaks Challenge and Amy’s Gran Fondo.

“We’re looking forward to getting out on the road, showing off the new kit and delivering some impressive results for Bicycle Network,” Keith Leonard said.

Peter Tzimas was more bullish in his predictions for the Team, saying “I think the Team will turn a few heads – we’ll get results, we’re ready to go.”

Besides race participation, a critical part of the Team’s role in 2013 will be to act as ambassadors for Bicycle Network, living the brand by setting a good example for others on the road to follow.

“As experienced riders, it is our responsibility to help educate others and raise awareness of issues on the road,” Cameron Clamp said.

Each team member is also a long term member of Bicycle Network and a strong advocate for the work that the organisation does to support road riders.

Team Captain, Ben Douglas advised that the important connection between Bicycle Network and road riders shouldn’t be underestimated.

“Bicycle Network is the single biggest cycling body in Australia; it is our representative voice to government and other authorities, stands up for riders’ rights and focuses on improving riding conditions,” he said, citing Beach Road no stopping zones and the resurfacing of Kew Boulevard as recent examples.

Sam de Bruin, the youngest member of the Team, summed up the Team’s thoughts on membership, saying “my Bicycle Network membership has been a great source of comfort to me as a road rider. I’m proud to represent the organisation this season through Team Bicycle Network.”
